Are you having a hard time logging in to your BDO online account?
Are you typing your correct User ID and Password for BDO Online Banking but for some reason, you couldn’t get past the page where you have to enter the OTP (One-Time Password) or answer the Challenge Question?
If you’re having this issue right now, you might be feeling frustrated and I understand how you feel because I just got the same issue today.
In my case, there were two reasons why I couldn’t log in successfully:
- My registered phone number was already expired and I could not receive the OTP anymore.
- I couldn’t remember the answer to the Challenge Question
After two failed login attempts, I decided to do it the next day, otherwise, my BDO online account would be locked out if it fails again on my third attempt.
I tried to login again the next day, and thankfully, another Challenge Question appeared, to which I knew the answer. I was able to successfully logged in after only one attempt.
To avoid the same issue in the future, the next thing I did was to change the Challenge Question and I’ll share with you how I did it below.
By the way, the minimum number of Challenge Questions needed was 3, and the two other questions were still okay, so I only needed to change the other one.
How to Change BDO Online Banking Account Challenge Questions
Step 1: Go to bdo.com.ph and login using your correct User ID and Password
Note: 3 failed attempts will cause your BDO online account to lock out. I suggest that after 2 failed attempts, try again another time.
Step 2: After successful login, the second phase of the login process is to enter the OTP or One-Time Password which will be sent to your registered mobile number.
If you don’t receive the OTP or you’re not using the same mobile number anymore, click Challenge Question. A question will show up and you need to enter the correct answer in the box.
Note: You’re also given 3 chances to enter the correct answer to the Challenge Question before your account gets locked out. If you’re not sure of the answer, just try it 2 times, unless you’re sure of the answer on your third attempt.
After successful login, you will now see your account details and the other features of BDO Online Banking facility.
Step 3: To update the Challenge Question,
- Click Profile Settings > Customer Information > Update Challenge Question
You will see the 3 Questions that you have originally set when you registered to BDO Online Banking. If you have set more than 3 Questions, you can either edit or delete any one of them as long as there are 3 Questions left on the list.
To change one of the 3 Challenge Questions, click the pencil icon right next to the question, and choose from the list of questions in the drop down, then enter the answer. Make sure it’s the one that you can easily answer or remember when you login to you BDO Online.
In order to update the changes, an Approval Code will be sent to your registered email address within a few minutes to 24 hours. I got mine after 5 minutes.
Step 4: Check your email inbox to get the approval code from BDO.
Step 5: Go back to your BDO Online Account. On the upper right corner of the screen, click the icon with a red box and check mark. Then, click the pencil icon to edit.
Step 6: Enter the Approval Code in the box and click Submit.
You will see this confirmation after the successful change of Challenge Question.
How to Update Customer Information in BDO Online Banking
- Login to your BDO Online Banking Account
- Enter the OTP or answer the Challenge Question
- Click Profile Settings > Update Customer Information
- Update your Mobile Number or Email Address in the corresponding boxes and hit Submit. A confirmation message with the Activation Code will appear on the screen.
- To activate the changes in your information, go to any BDO ATM machine, insert your BDO ATM card, then select:
- Other Services > Activate Electronic Banking > Enter the Activate Code
Note: You can only update one info at a time. Once it’s approved you can update the other info and activate it by following the same process as above.
How to Log Out from BDO Online Banking
Aside from keeping your login credentials safe, it is also very important that you log out from your BDO Online Banking Account to avoid any issues.
To do this, just click the icon with an outgoing arrow, which you can find on the upper right corner of your screen if you are using a computer. If you are using the BDO mobile app, just look for the same icon or logout button somewhere on the screen.
