Are you wondering how bloggers earn dollars and how they receive their blog’s earnings?
While it’s true that Filipinos who work abroad, particularly in the States earn US dollars, it’s also possible for Filipinos to earn $$$ without having to go to the United States of America.
Yes, you read it right!
You can earn dollars, even if you’re in the Philippines.
Does that sound like a scam?
Well, not really…
In fact, there are already a lot of Filipinos in the Philippines, who are earning lots and lots of dollars by blogging.
I wish I’m one of them, but I’m happy enough to have earned my first 100 US dollars ($100) from this blog.
Wonder how that works?
This blog post is not really about how to make money blogging, but I’ll tell you a little bit about how it works based on my experience.
- I set up this blog in December 2015.
- I published different blog posts or articles.
- I applied for Google AdSense and was approved within a month.
- I added Google AdSense codes on this blog.
- 6 months later, I received my first ever $100
It may seem easy, but it’s actually not. I poured in lots of time and hard work, plus moments of doubt and insecurity, but it finally paid off when my first $100 showed up on my Google AdSense account.
I couldn’t be more excited during the first time I saw it.
That’s when I realized that there’s money in blogging and that it’s NOT IMPOSSIBLE to earn dollars while you’re in the Philippines, contrary to what a lot of us thought of.
How to Claim Google AdSense Payment through Western Union
When I applied for Google AdSense, I chose Western Union as my payment option.
You also have the option to receive your earnings through Wire Transfer or direct bank transfer, but in my opinion, its more cost-effective to choose Western Union especially for newbie bloggers or those who are just starting out and are not expecting to earn thousands of dollars yet.
NOTE: The minimum threshold for you to cash out your Google AdSense earnings is $100
- My first Google AdSense Payment was $104.74 and it was issued on June 21, 2016.
- I should have been able to claim it by June 25th, but I only got the chance to do so on July 22nd.
I first went to the Western Union Office at Savemore (SM Grocery Store), but they said they only release payments or remittances from person to person.
Mine was not accepted because it came from Google (company) and they suggested me to go to Western Union USSC branch. USSC stands for Universal Storefront Services Corporation.
What to do at Western Union
- At the Western USSC branch, I filled out the form with all the required info to receive money (International)
- I entered the MTCN or Money Transfer Control Number, which can be found from your Google AdSense account (Payment Issued details)
- I gave my Postal ID (you can also give any of your other valid IDs)
- I opted to receive pesos instead of dollars with their current conversion rate ($1 = Php 46.72)
- And voila! I got my first $100, which is equivalent to Php 4,893.45 in cold cash! (cha-ching!)
DISCLAMER:
Just a disclaimer, what I earned from this blog is not a guarantee that you can earn the same. You may be able to earn your first $100 earlier or longer than 6 months.
It will depend on the time and effort that you will put in to build your blog and to reach as many people as you want.
Also, blogging is not just about earning the dollars. It should be way more than that. That is, to give value and to help your readers with their “problems” through your blog posts.
When you do that, the money will come next. You’ll just be surprised.
